Discovery of Pulsed OH Maser Emission Stimulated by a Pulsar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Stimulated emission of radiation has not been directly observed in astrophysical situations up to this time. Here we demonstrate that photons from pulsar B1641-45 stimulate pulses of excess 1720 MHz line emission in an interstellar OH cloud.

Field Emission and Emission-Stimulated Desorption of ZnO Nanomaterials

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Compared with other field-emission nanomaterials, 1D ZnO nanomaterials have some unique properties—such as high melting point, high thermal and chemical stability, and ambient insensitivity—which means they have promising potential applications as field ...

Terahertz transient stimulated emission from doped silicon

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2020
Transient-type stimulated emission in the terahertz (THz) frequency range has been achieved from phosphorus doped silicon crystals under optical excitation by a few-picosecond-long pulses generated by the infrared free electron lasers FELIX and CLIO. The

Influence of stimulated interband emission on terahertz photoluminescence in n-type gallium arsenide layers

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2023
In the paper, a possibility of increasing the terahertz (THz) radiation intensity under optical interband pumping in the epitaxial GaAs layer doped with shallow donors has been studied.

Balancing the Number of Quantum Wells in HgCdTe/CdHgTe Heterostructures for Mid-Infrared Lasing

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
HgCdTe-based heterostructures with quantum wells (QWs) are a promising material for semiconductor lasers in the atmospheric transparency window (3–5 μm) thanks to the possibility of suppressing Auger recombination due to the no-parabolic law of carrier ...

Stimulated Emission in Vertically Aligned Hexagonal ZnO Microcrystals Synthesized by Magnetron Sputtering Method

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
This study is devoted to the luminescence and stimulated emission properties of the ZnO hybrid structure, which is vertically aligned microcrystals with the [0001] crystallographic orientation and a pronounced hexagonal shape formed on a continuous layer

Understanding High-Gain Twin-Beam Sources Using Cascaded Stimulated Emission

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2020
We present a new method for the spectral characterization of pulsed twin-beam sources in the high-gain regime, using cascaded stimulated emission. We show an implementation of this method for a periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate spontaneous ...

Observation of Antinormally Ordered Hanbury-Brown--Twiss Correlations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We have measured antinormally ordered Hanbury-Brown--Twiss correlations for coherent states of electromagnetic field by using stimulated parametric down-conversion process.

Stimulation Emission Depleted Photoacoustic

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
We demonstrate that the Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) concept, which is usually invoked for fluorescence, can be extended to photoacoustic effects. When two-nanosecond pulses of exciting and stimulating light are synchronized, 80% of the acoustic signal generated through excited state absorption (ESA) can be quenched.

Stimulated emission from nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Here Jeskeet al. show both theoretical and experimental evidence for stimulated emission from negatively charged nitrogen vacancy centres using light in the phonon sidebands around 700 nm, demonstrating its suitability as a laser medium.
