Silicon Nanowire Mats Enable Advanced Bioelectrical Recordings in Primary DRG Cell Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
SiNW mat‐based MEA (NW_MEA) enables continuous intracellular recordings from neurons in primary rat DRG cell cultures, identifying C‐fiber nociceptors. Supported by an astrocyte feeder layer, SiNW mat promotes DRG neuron and glial cell growth, preserving in vivo‐like cell characteristics and allowing drug‐modulated activity monitoring.

Solution growth of Triglycine Sulfate (TGS) crystals on the International Microgravity Laboratory (IML-1) [PDF]

open access: yes
An experiment was planned for the International Microgravity Laboratory (IML-1) to be launched around Feb. 1991. Crystals of triglycine sulfate (TGS) will be grown by low temperature solution crystal growth technique using a multiuser facility called ...

Effect of Nanoparticle Rigidity on the Interaction of Stromal Membrane Particles with Leukemia Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Cell membrane nanoparticles made with stromal cells are prepared and used to target leukemia cells. Deposition of the cell membrane onto rigid silica cores leads to increased uptake both in leukemia cell lines and primary cells from patients. These results show that nanoparticle rigidity affects the interaction between cell membrane nanoparticles and ...

SLC19A1 transports immunoreactive cyclic dinucleotides. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The accumulation of DNA in the cytosol serves as a key immunostimulatory signal associated with infections, cancer and genomic damage1,2. Cytosolic DNA triggers immune responses by activating the cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon ...

Progress of Immune‐Inducible Biomaterials for Post‐Ablation Cancers

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The presence of residual tumors after ablative therapies poses a significant challenge, generally resulting in recurrence and metastases. This review offers a concise overview of immune‐inducible biomaterials from the perspective of the cancer‐immunity cycle, and how they enhance antitumor immunity through diverse mechanisms following ablative ...

Reality TV and the Entrapment of Predators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Dateline NBC’s “To Catch a Predator”(2006-08) involved NBC staff working with police and a watchdog group called “Perverted Justice” to televise “special intensity” arrests of men who were lured into meeting adult decoys posing as young children ...

Immunosuppressive Formulations for Immunological Defense against Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel subcutaneous formulation combining alpha‐ketoglutarate, glycolysis inhibitor PFK15, and a myelin peptide reduces inflammation in a mouse TBI model. This formulation promotes regulatory immune cells, enhances autophagy, and improves motor function, suggesting its potential as a prophylactic immunosuppressive therapy to mitigate TBI‐induced ...
