Amplification of N-Myc is associated with a T-cell-poor microenvironment in metastatic neuroblastoma restraining interferon pathway activity and chemokine expression

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2017
Immune checkpoint inhibitors have significantly improved the treatment of several cancers. T-cell infiltration and the number of neoantigens caused by tumor-specific mutations are correlated to favorable responses in cancers with a high mutation load ...

Selective and Precise Editing of Digital Polymers Through Parallel or Series Toehold‐Mediated Strand Displacement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A sequence‐encoded supramolecular construct containing two accessible toeholds is developed herein for enabling multiple editing operations. By introducing specific input strands, it is possible to selectively erase or rewrite digital content through parallel or series toehold‐mediated strand displacement (PTMSD or STMSD).

Exotropia in a pediatric patient with rhabdomyolysis caused by an insect sting

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Various ocular and systemic reactions have been associated with insect sting. However, insect stings have been rarely reported to cause exotropia and diplopia.

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions

Oncolytic virus immunotherapy induces immunogenic cell death and overcomes STING deficiency in melanoma

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2019
Successful immunotherapy for melanoma depends on the recruitment of effector CD8+ T cells to the tumor microenvironment. Factors contributing to T cell regulation in melanoma have recently been recognized, including the stimulator of interferon genes ...

Subsonic sting interference on the aerodynamic characteristics of a family of slanted-base ogive-cylinders [PDF]

open access: yes
Support interference free drag, lift, and pitching moment measurements on a range of slanted base ogive cylinders were made using the NASA Langley 13 inch magnetic suspension and balance system.

Gas turbine exhaust nozzle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
An elongated hollow string is disposed in an exhaust nozzle combustion chamber and communicates with an air source through hollow struts at one end. The other end of the string is bell-mouth shaped and extends over the front portion of a nozzle plug. The

Indications of a sub-linear and non-universal Kennicutt-Schmidt relationship

open access: yes, 2013
We estimate the parameters of the Kennicutt-Schmidt (KS) relationship, linking the star formation rate (Sigma_SFR) to the molecular gas surface density (Sigma_mol), in the STING sample of nearby disk galaxies using a hierarchical Bayesian method.

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

TREX1 dictates the immune fate of irradiated cancer cells

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2017
The optimal radiation dose and fractionation to induce anti-tumor immunity remain elusive. We recently found that the exonuclease TREX1 abrogates the immunogenicity of irradiated cancer cells by degrading interferon-stimulatory cytosolic dsDNA.
