Noncooperative Stochastic Games

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1971
We introduce a sequential competitive decision process that is a generalization of noncooperative finite games and of two-person zero-sum stochastic games (hence, of Markovian decision processes). We prove the existence of equilibrium points under criteria of discounted gain and of average gain.

Playing Stochastic Games Precisely [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study stochastic two-player games where the goal of one player is to achieve precisely a given expected value of the objective function, while the goal of the opponent is the opposite. Potential applications for such games include controller synthesis problems where the optimisation objective is to maximise or minimise a given payoff function while ...

Charting the Path to Increased Oil Palm Output in Ghana Beyond Area Expansion: Technology or Managerial Capacity — Which Leads the Way?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study sets out to investigate the prospects for raising oil palm output in sub‐Saharan Africa, particularly Ghana, without further expansion of cropland. Given global concerns about oil palm's role in deforestation and land use change, the focus is on enhancing productivity on existing farmlands.

Modeling the separation of water‐in‐oil emulsions in continuously fed gravity settlers using millifluidic experiments

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Emulsion separation remains a persistent challenge in chemical and process industries due to the metastable nature of dispersed droplets. In gravity separators, the overall separation rate is governed by the formation of a densely packed zone (DPZ) of deforming and coalescing droplets that mediates between the dispersed and continuous phases ...

Macrophage Phenotype Detection Methodology on Textured Surfaces via Nuclear Morphology Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A novel machine learning approach classifies macrophage phenotypes with up to 98% accuracy using only nuclear morphology from DAPI‐stained images. Bypassing traditional surface markers, the method proves robust even on complex textured biomaterial surfaces. It offers a simpler, faster alternative for studying macrophage behavior in various experimental

An evolutionary game-theoretic analysis of the "multi-agent co-governance" system of unfair competition on internet platforms.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The increasingly prominent issue of unfair competition on Internet platforms (IPUC) severely restricts the healthy and sustainable development of the platform economy.

Tackling Uncertain Performances of Multiple Stakeholders in the Design and Optimization of Decentralized Supply Chains

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
Supply chains are normally managed in a decentralized way by multiple stakeholders pursuing distinct objectives. However, most existing supply chain studies rely on centralized models and neglect the uncertain behaviors of stakeholders in the decision ...

Deep Learning‐Assisted Design of Mechanical Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review examines the role of data‐driven deep learning methodologies in advancing mechanical metamaterial design, focusing on the specific methodologies, applications, challenges, and outlooks of this field. Mechanical metamaterials (MMs), characterized by their extraordinary mechanical behaviors derived from architected microstructures, have ...

A stochastic interpretation of game logic

open access: yesJournal of Logical and Algebraic Methods in Programming, 2017
Game logic is a dynamic modal logic which models strategic two person games; it contains propositional dynamic logic (PDL) as a fragment. We propose an interpretation of game logic based on stochastic effectivity functions. A definition of these functions is proposed, and some algebraic properties of effectivity functions such as congruences are ...

A Physics Constrained Machine Learning Pipeline for Young's Modulus Prediction in Multimaterial Hyperelastic Cylinders Guided by Contact Mechanics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A physics‐guided machine learning framework estimates Young's modulus in multilayered multimaterial hyperelastic cylinders using contact mechanics. A semiempirical stiffness law is embedded into a custom neural network, ensuring physically consistent predictions. Validation against experimental and numerical data on C.
