Carbon dots in photocatalytic water splitting and related proton/electron‐coupled reactions: Multiscale regulation of charge dynamics and interfacial processes

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes CD‐based photocatalytic water splitting as a multiscale charge‐utilization process, linking photoexcitation, charge separation, interfacial transfer, charge storage, and catalytic consumption. It highlights how CD structures and interfaces regulate charge pathways and reaction microenvironments, and how advanced characterization,

Widespread Bomb Fishing in Indo‐Pacific Archipelago Revealed Through Machine Learning Accelerated Passive Acoustic Monitoring

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
AI‐accelerated passive acoustic monitoring reveals extensive bomb fishing within the Spermonde Archipelago, with annual incidents numbering in the thousands. ABSTRACT Bomb fishing is recognised as the most destructive fishing practice that can be performed in our oceans.

Deepening the real options debate: Real options as dynamic optimization

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Is real option theory useful for management research? This topic was hotly debated two decades ago. Real options were said to be inapplicable to management research and to lack conceptual distinctiveness. Whereas responses to the claim about the non‐distinctiveness of real options were disparate, the concern about the theory's

Recent advances in polymeric chemically amplified positive resists: Materials and design strategies

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in the molecular design of positive chemically amplified resists, focusing on photoacid generators and polymer architectures. Key strategies for enhancing sensitivity—including self‐amplification effects, copolymerization of sensitive monomers, controlled polymerization, and photosensitized chemically amplified ...

How We Simulate Nanopores

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Nanopore technology has revolutionized single‐molecule sensing, yet it suffers from an inherent interpretive challenge. Molecular dynamics has emerged as a go‐to method for determining the relationship between the structure of translocating molecules and the nanopore current signals.

Investigation of Serrated Flow in Intercritically Annealed Medium Manganese Steel by In Situ Synchrotron X‐Ray Diffraction

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Serrations and stepwise austenite phase transformation were observed in cold‐rolled and annealed medium manganese steels. By in situ XRD experiments, these two phenomena were studied simultaneously. The results show that DSA leads to the creation of PLC bands and load drops in the specimen.

Explainable Machine Learning for Predicting Time‐to‐Failure of Horizontal Pressurized Storage Tanks in Fire Scenarios

open access: yesSafety Science and Technology, EarlyView.
An interpretable machine learning framework with SHAP analysis achieves accurate time‐to‐failure prediction for horizontal pressurized tanks under pool fires while identifying fire intensity, filling level, and wall thickness as dominant drivers of model explanation and uncertainty explanation, providing transparent and actionable insights for ...

Multi‐level fatigue reliability assessment of reinforced concrete railway bridges

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents a multi‐level reliability framework for assessing the fatigue life of reinforced concrete (RC) railway trough bridges subjected to cyclic loading. The framework incorporates increasing levels of analytical complexity and real‐world data in four steps. First, an analytical model applies S–N curves and the Palmgren–Miner rule

Rotation capacity of continuous reinforced concrete slab strips revisited

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Rotation capacity is a key characteristic of statically indeterminate reinforced concrete structures, as it (i) enables bending moment redistributions, whether intentionally introduced through optimized reinforcement layouts or arising from unforeseen self‐equilibrated stress states, and (ii) promotes large rotations at failure load, thereby ...
