Financial Fragility and the Fiscal Multiplier

Abstract We show that undercapitalized banks with large holdings of government bonds subject to sovereign default risk lead to a new crowding‐out channel: deficit‐financed fiscal stimuli lead to higher bond yields, triggering capital losses for the banks. Banks then cut back loans, which reduces fiscal multipliers.

African ape carpal morphology is not too specialized to represent the ancestral hominin carpus

Knuckle walking is one hypothesized behavior of the Pan‐Homo last common ancestor. We analyzed carpal morphology, including Euclidean distances between behavioral pairs, to investigate whether the carpals of knuckle‐walking taxa appear relatively specialized.

Dynamic capital allocation in general insurance

Abstract This paper provides a model for allocating capital to different insurance lines with varying development periods for a value‐maximizing insurance company. In our model, the company makes capitalization and exposure decisions considering its capital level and its relevant loss history.
