Stop-signal task experimental paradigm.

open access: yes, 2014
In this trial example, the muffin (A) is assigned to the High-Error condition, whereas the chocolate cake (B) is used as cue for the Low-Error condition. Each trial began with a black and white picture displayed for 1000 ms.

EEG compatible OpenSesame Stop Signal Task (based on Verbruggen STOP-IT) - parallel port communication

open access: yes, 2023
This is an attempt to create an OpenSesame EEG compatible Stop Signal Task that is based on the Verbruggen STOP-IT html experiment and on the consensus guide paper by Verbruggen et al. (DOI:10.7554/eLife.46323).

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Inseparability of Go and Stop in Inhibitory Control: Go Stimulus Discriminability Affects Stopping Behavior

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2016
Inhibitory control, the ability to stop or modify preplanned actions under changing task conditions, is an important component of cognitive functions.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Individual differences in stop‐related activity are inflated by the adaptive algorithm in the stop signal task

open access: yes, 2018
Research using the Stop Signal Task employing an adaptive algorithm to accommodate individual differences often report inferior performance on the task in individuals with ADHD, OCD, and substance use disorders compared to non‐clinical controls ...

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Cognitive control in the generation of random sequences: a computational study of secondary task effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cognitive control processes, such as those involved in response inhibition or task switching, have been the focus of much recent research. Few studies, however, have considered how such processes work together in tasks that require multiple control ...
