Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

How Long Does It Take to Stop? Are Children Able to Stop on Demand?

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Children’s physical and cognitive development plays a crucial role in their ability to react appropriately in dynamic traffic situations. One key aspect of traffic safety is the ability to stop movement quickly and accurately after receiving a stop ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Elements of perfect order rate research in logistics chains [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Transport, 2019
Perfect order rate (POR) is one of the superior measures of the logistics processes quality. POR is at the top of the hierarchy of key performance indicators (KPI) in supply chain and is considered as difficult to define and measure.

Cracking the Code: Genotype–Phenotype Correlation Models in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Sarcoglycanopathies are among the most severe limb‐girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD), though milder presentations have been described. These diseases are primarily caused by missense variants, but the limited predictability of their effect on protein maturation, complex formation, and transport has hindered reliable genotype ...

On the Minimum/Stopping Distance of Array Low-Density Parity-Check Codes

open access: yes, 2014
In this work, we study the minimum/stopping distance of array low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. An array LDPC code is a quasi-cyclic LDPC code specified by two integers q and m, where q is an odd prime and m \u3c= q.

Study on stability and control of surrounding rock in the large section stopping space with extra-thick coal seam

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
The stability of the stopping space is an important guarantee for the efficient and safe withdrawal of coal mining equipment. The influence of the position of the main roof fracture line on the stability of the surrounding rock in the stopping space was ...

Inter-STOP symbol distances for the identification of coding regions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Bioinformatics, 2013
Summary In this study we explore the potential of inter-STOP symbol distances for finding coding regions in DNA sequences. We use the distance between STOP symbols in the DNA sequence and a chi-square statistic to evaluate the nonhomogeneity of the three possible reading frames and the occurrence of one long distance in one of the frames.
