Convergence Study of Minimizing the Nonconvex Total Delay Using the Lane-Based Optimization Method for Signal-Controlled Junctions

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2012
This paper presents a 2D convergence density criterion for minimizing the total junction delay at isolated junctions in the lane-based optimization framework.

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Bayesian sequential estimation of the proportion of damage in maize seeds

open access: yesScientia Agricola
Sampling is an essential step in estimating a parameter: thus, cost and time associated to this step should be minimized. Sequential sampling is characterized by using samples of variable sizes given as a function of observations, and sequential sampling

Identifying Key Success Factors in Stopping Flaky Tests in Automated REST Service Testing

open access: yesJournal of Computer Science and Technology, 2018
A flaky test is a test which could fail or pass for the same version of a certain software code. In continuous software development environments, flaky tests represent a problem.

CNN-VSR: A Deep Learning Architecture with Validation-Based Stopping Rule for Time Series Classication

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence, 2020
Deep learning methods for univariate time series classification (TSC) are recently gaining attention. Especially, convolutional neural network (CNN) is utilized to solve the problem of predicting class labels of time series obtained through various ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Stopping with expectation constraints: 3 points suffice

open access: yes, 2017
We consider the problem of optimally stopping a one-dimensional continuous-time Markov process with a stopping time satisfying an expectation constraint.

Extracting Hierarchies from Data Clusters for Better Classification

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2012
In this paper we present the PHOCS-2 algorithm, which extracts a “Predicted Hierarchy Of ClassifierS”. The extracted hierarchy helps us to enhance performance of flat classification. Nodes in the hierarchy contain classifiers.
