Storage Conditions Affect Quality of Raisins

Journal of Food Science, 1993
ABSTRACT Raisins had a moisture content of ca 14% and were stored over an 11 mo period. The initial SO 2 content was ca 640 ppm. Moisture content, water activity, color, browning, texture, SO 2 content, soluble sugars, acidity and pH ...

Predicting Quality Effects of Pumped Storage

Journal of the Power Division, 1972
Pumped storage operation (PSO) affects the water quality and in turn the resident biota. A predictive technique was adapted from a recently developed ecologic model to calculate the environmental changes and to evaluate the alternatives of PSO that might enhance a normal ecological succession, forestalling adverse environmental problems.

Preserving potato tuber quality during storage

2021
Potato tubers are mostly consumed fresh; therefore, it is required to store tubers for long periods after harvest. Premature sprouting and rotting during storage are the leading causes of wastage. Sprouting causes loss of quality due to mobilization of starch and proteins, and shrinkage caused by water loss.

Water Quality in Pumped Storage Reservoirs

Journal of the Power Division, 1967
The purpose of this study is to indicate bases for evaluating certain water quality characteristics of large-scale pumped storage reservoir projects to be used for multipurpose water uses, as well as for peak power production. The principal characteristics of concern are temperature and dissolved oxygen. Results of field studies during 1965 and 1966 at

Hydrogeological criteria for final storage quality

2005
Disposal of hazardous non-radioactive wastes is a major problem because of our incomplete understanding of subsurface processes. We are forced to simplify with models and thus to overlook some of the natural defects in real storage sites. The aim of this paper is to provide a conceptual framework and to discuss some examples of previously overlooked ...

Quality changes of strawberries during storage

2013
Strawberries are a nonclimacteric fruit characterized by a short postharvest life that limits their marketing. They are susceptible to mechanical injury, drying, decay and physiological disorders during storage. Altough the grey mold and Rhizopus rot are two main pathogens infections from Penicillium ssp. (blue mold) also occus occasionally.
