Hardening effects on formability limit prediction based on gurson-type damage models and bifurcation analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this work, ductility limits of metallic materials, associated with the occurrence of strain localization, are predicted using the GTN damage model coupled with bifurcation theory.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The effect of material cyclic deformation properties on residual stress generation by laser shock processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Laser shock processing (LSP) is a mechanical surface treatment to induce a compressive residual stress state into the near surface region of a metallic component.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Fractional derivative-based normalized viscoelastic model of strain-hardening clays

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials
Introduction: The stress-strain relationship of clays characterized by strain hardening exhibits varying curves under different confining pressures and dry densities. Methods: Considering the viscoelastic properties of clays, a normalized viscoelastic ...

Some aspects on geometric and matrix work-hardening characteristics of sintered cold forged copper alloy preforms [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2013
Powder metallurgy (P/M) material subjected to plastic deformation results into densification, however the extended deformation would not only enhance the densification also supplements the strain hardening.

The implementation of the vegter yield criterion and a physically based hardening rule in finite elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A new material description for sheet metal forming using Finite Elements has been developed. The description consists of a yield criterion and a hardening rule.

Effects of the Unified Viscoplastic Formulation and Temperature Terms on the Thermomechanical Behavior of Soldering Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Solder materials are critical packaging compounds and due to usually weakest melting temperature among packaging constitutive materials, thus, they are frequently subjected to a multitude of physical phenomena: creep, fatigue and combined hardening ...
