Toward a principled sampling theory for quasi-orders

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2016
Quasi-orders, that is, reflexive and transitive binary relations, have numerous applications. In educational theories, the dependencies of mastery among the problems of a test can be modeled by quasi-orders.

The Efficiency of Stratified Quartile Ranked Set Sampling in Estimating the Population Mean

open access: yes, 2016
[[abstract]]In this paper, new modified ranked set sampling method is suggested for estimating the population mean, namely, stratified quartile ranked set sampling (SQRSS). The SQRSS is compared with simple random sampling (SRS), stratified simple random

A new estimator for mean under stratified random sampling

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, we have proposed an estimator of finite population mean in stratified random sampling. The expressions for the bias and mean square error of the proposed estimator are obtained up to the first order of approximation.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

The Randomized Response Technique Application in the Survey of Homosexual Commercial Sex among Men in Beijing.

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 2014
Traditional survey methods may cause refusals to respond or untruthful replies when encounter the sensitive questions. The Randomized Response Technique (RRT) is designed to decrease social desirability bias and obtain reliable estimates.

Stratified Random Sampling for Power Estimation

open access: yes, 1996
In this paper, we present new statistical sampling techniques for performing power estimation at the circuit level. These techniques first transform the power estimation problem to a survey sampling problem, then apply stratified random sampling to ...

Evaluation of Three Sampling Methods to Monitor Outcomes of Antiretroviral Treatment Programmes in Low- and Middle-Income Countries.

open access: yes, 2010
BACKGROUND: Retention of patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART) over time is a proxy for quality of care and an outcome indicator to monitor ART programs. Using existing databases (Antiretroviral in Lower Income Countries of the International Databases

APLIKASI BAHASA C++ DAN PHP UNTUK MENENTUKAN UKURAN SAMPEL PADA METODE STRATIFIED RANDOM SAMPLING

open access: yes, 2020
. The accuracy of survey results depends on sample size. So far, in determining the sample size of the stratified random sampling method, researchers still use manual calculations. Because of that, this research aims to create a sample size determination

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Stratified progressive random sampling

open access: yes, 1999
A number of applications, including claims made under Federal social welfare programs, require retrospective sampling over multiple time periods. A common characteristic of such samples is that population members could appear in multiple time periods ...
