A multi‐proxy reconstruction of Lateglacial and Holocene mountain vegetation dynamics in Uri, Central Switzerland

open access: yesBoreas, Volume 54, Issue 2, Page 202-219, April 2025.
We analysed the sediment record of Golzerensee, a mountain lake in Central Switzerland, to reconstruct past vegetation responses to climatic changes, human impact and fire for the last 14 550 years. Vegetation reacted sensitively to rapid climate warming, with closed forests establishing only decades after the onset of the Holocene.

Сравнительная характеристика некоторых комплексных показателей степени зрелости плодов яблони при определении технической степени зрелости для сока

open access: yes, 2019
Currently, there are no direct methods for determining the degree of fruit maturity, and researchers use complex indicators that take into account several parameters.

Parameters for apple quality - 2 - and the development of the ‘inner quality concept’ 2001-2003 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We found clear correlations between management measures, tree characteristics and fruit characteristics. This means that growers can regulate apple quality during the growing season.

Universal scaling of a classical impurity in the quantum Ising chain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We study finite size scaling for the magnetic observables of an impurity residing at the endpoint of an open quantum Ising chain in a transverse magnetic field, realized by locally rescaling the magnetic field by a factor $\mu \neq 1$. In the homogeneous

Essential steps for establishing a large‐scale passive acoustic monitoring for an elusive forest bird species: the Eurasian Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola)

open access: yesIbis, Volume 167, Issue 2, Page 543-561, April 2025.
In light of global biodiversity loss, comprehensive monitoring of species and biodiversity is fundamental for effective conservation management. Technology‐driven approaches, particularly in the field of bioacoustics, have gained importance, with autonomous recording units (ARUs) such as the AudioMoth being a notable example.

Superior Prophylactic Effectiveness of a Recombinant FVIIIFc Over Standard Half‐Life FVIII in Hemophilia A: A‐SURE Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 114, Issue 2, Page 248-257, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Objectives The 24‐month, prospective, non‐interventional, European multicenter A‐SURE study evaluated the real‐world effectiveness of prophylaxis using an extended half‐life recombinant factor VIII (FVIII) Fc fusion protein, efmoroctocog alfa (hereinafter rFVIIIFc), compared with prophylaxis using standard half‐life (SHL) FVIII products in ...

THE DETERMINATION OF HARVEST INDEX OF ’ŠAMPION’ APPLES INTENDED FOR LONG STORAGE

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2011
The harvest date is crucial for the storability of ’Šampion’ apples intended for long storage. Only apples picked at the optimum maturity stage are suitable for storage over 3 months because of better storage potential and organoleptic quality.

A stabilizing reinforcement learning approach for sampled systems with partially unknown models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, Volume 34, Issue 18, Page 12389-12412, December 2024.
Abstract Reinforcement learning is commonly associated with training of reward‐maximizing (or cost‐minimizing) agents, in other words, controllers. It can be applied in model‐free or model‐based fashion, using a priori or online collected system data to train involved parametric architectures.

Development of a three‐dimensional hydrogeological model for the island of Norderney (Germany) using GemPy

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 11, Issue 3, Page 267-283, July 2024.
A hydrogeological model for the island of Norderney was developed based on borehole data, geological models and interpretation available in the literature. So far, no spatially continuous hydrogeological data was available for the island. The model focuses on describing deposits in which the island’s freshwater lens, which provides drinking water, is ...
