Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Evaluation of Flexible Road Pavement Construction State Using Objective Strength Criteria

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2007
This article illustrates that by means of our methodology for evaluation of state of flexible road pavement construction (RPC) it is possible with an adequate precision for practical purposes to measure the remaining resource of pavement construction ...

Biaxial Constitutive Relation and Strength Criterion of Envelope Materials for Stratospheric Airships

open access: yesAerospace
The performance upgrading of stratospheric airships hinges on breakthroughs in the mechanical properties of envelope materials. As a multi-layer composite, the envelope’s load-bearing layer exhibits orthotropic and nonlinear mechanical behaviors owing to

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Influence of Rock Properties in Estimating Rock Strength for Shallow Underground Structures in Weak Rocks

open access: yesIndonesian Journal on Geoscience, 2018
DOI: 10.17014/ijog.5.2.93-105Two popular rock strength criteria, the linear Coulomb and non-linear Hoek-Brown, are widely used in underground designs. These two criteria may be applied differently depending on rock conditions.

Gross plastic deformation of axisymmetric pressure vessel heads [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The gross plastic deformation and associated plastic loads of four axisymmetric torispherical pressure vessels are determined by two criteria of plastic collapse: the ASME twice elastic slope (TES) criterion and the recently proposed plastic work ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
