Genetically engineered avidins and streptavidins
Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, 2006Chicken avidin and bacterial streptavidin, (strept)avidin, are proteins widely utilized in a number of applications in life science, ranging from purification and labeling techniques to diagnostics, and from targeted drug delivery to nanotechnology. (Strept)avidin-biotin technology relies on the extremely tight and specific affinity between (strept ...

Immobilized Streptavidin Gradients as Bioconjugation Platforms
Langmuir, 2012Surface density gradients of streptavidin (SAV) were created on solid surfaces and demonstrated functionality as a bioconjugation platform. The surface density of immobilized streptavidin steadily increased in one dimension from 0 to 235 ng cm(-2) over a distance of 10 mm.

IET Synthetic Biology, 2007
The goal of this project was to express streptavidin on the outer surface of Escherichia coli so that we could target any biotinylated nucleic acid or peptide to a cell surface. We used BioBrick assembly to fuse together a lipoprotein signal peptide, outer membrane protein A transmembrane domains and streptavidin protein domains. Assembly of constructs

Ink Formulation for Inkjet Printing of Streptavidin and Streptavidin Functionalized Nanoparticles
Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology, 2011Aqueous inks containing the protein streptavidin (SAv) or nanoparticles carrying surface-attached SAv were formulated for piezoelectric inkjet printing, using glycerol and 2-propanol to adjust their dynamic viscosity and their surface tension by variation of concentration and relative ratio of the two organic components.

Colloidal Gold/Streptavidin Methods
1994Biotin-avidin detection systems are widely used in both immunocytochemistry and molecular biology. They take advantage of the high affinity of biotin, a low-molecular-weight vitamin, for avidin, an egg-white protein. Because of the problem of nonspecific binding of avidin, streptavidin has largely replaced avidin for immunocytochemical procedures ...

[Identification of streptavidin].
Hua xi yi ke da xue xue bao = Journal of West China University of Medical Sciences = Huaxi yike daxue xuebao, 1996In this report, streptavidin (SA) was further identified on the basis of our previous researches in SA isolation and purification. 23.2 mg of SA productivity could be obtained after purification by DEAE-52 column from 1 L of culture supernatant. The spectrum scanning of ultraviolet absorption was congruent with that of the Sigma product.

Streptavidin-reactive protein in Fasciola hepatica
Veterinary Parasitology, 1995Streptavidin-binding protein was found in an extract of Fasciola hepatica, and the protein was analyzed by the inhibition assay using avidin or D-biotin, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and Western blotting using peroxidase-conjugated streptavidin.

Submicron Streptavidin Patterns for Protein Assembly
Langmuir, 2006Micron and submicron-scale features of aldehyde functionality were fabricated in polymer films by photolithography to develop a platform for protein immobilization and assembly at a biologically relevant scale. Films containing the pH-reactive polymer poly(3,3'-diethoxypropyl methacrylate) and a photoacid generator (PAG) were patterned from 500 nm to ...

Avidin and streptavidin in clinical diagnostics
Biomolecular Engineering, 1999With the introduction of the SA/Bi technology into the clinical diagnostic field ultrasensitive tests with an acceptable turn-around time became feasible. Cytokine ELISAs with lower detection limit in the picogram range became finally available. Prior to the introduction of SA/Bi only elevated levels of target could be detected by short time tests but ...
