Purification of isopenicillin N synthetase from Streptomyces clavuligerus
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1986Isopenicillin N synthetase was purified from Streptomyces clavuligerus by sequential salt precipitation, ion-exchange and gel-filtration chromatography using both conventional open column and high-performance liquid chromatographic techniques. Material from the final purification step had a specific activity of 204.1 × 10−3 units/mg of protein which ...

Immobilization of Streptomyces clavuligerus on loofah sponge for the production of clavulanic acid
Bioresource Technology, 2008Clavulanic acid, a naturally occurring powerful inhibitor of bacterial beta-lactamases, is produced by Streptomyces clavuligerus. The high void volume, permeability, and low cost of fibrous matrices prompted the use of Luffa cylindrica as a matrix for the immobilization of S. clavuligerus for the production of clavulanic acid.

Cephalosporin production by growing cells of Streptomyces clavuligerus was reduced by 100 mM inorganic phosphate. Resting cell production was repressed by prior growth in high phosphate and inhibited by phosphate. The cell-free activity of desacetoxycephalosporin C synthetase (ring expansion activity) was repressed by prior growth in high phosphate and

Regulation of clavam metabolite production in Streptomyces clavuligerus
2011Streptomyces clavuligerus is capable of producing various secondary metabolites including clavulanic acid. The biosynthetic pathway of clavulanic acid is partially shared with other structurally related 5S clavams. The first reaction involved in clavam biosynthesis is catalyzed by carboxyethylarginine synthase (CeaS), which is encoded by two paralogous
