Mechanical properties of pellets in compression

open access: yesResearch in Agricultural Engineering, 2015
The paper deals with the evaluation of mechanical properties of the cylinder pellet samples. The pellets were made from hay by the granulating machine MGL 200 (Kovonovak) provided by the Department of Production Engineering, Slovak University of ...

Flow Stress Curve Modification and Constitutive Model of 20CrMoA Steel during Warm Deformation

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The warm deformation behavior of 20CrMoA steel at the temperature of 873–1123 K and the strain rate of 0.01−10 s−1 was investigated to obtain its processing property and optimum processing parameters.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Finite element modelling of cold formed stainless steel columns

open access: yes, 2004
This paper describes the results obtained from a finite element investigation into the load capacity of column members of lipped channel cross-section, cold formed from Type 304 stainless steel, subjected to concentric and eccentric compression loading ...

General modeling of flow stress curves of alloys at elevated temperatures using bi-linearly interpolated or closed-form functions for material parameters

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2019
In this study, a promising model is presented to describe the flow stress curves with acceptable accuracy as well as generality. In this model, peak strain, peak stress, steady-state stress and hardening and softening constants are uncoupled and ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Procedures for obtaining stress-strain curve of stainless steels including post-necking strain

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
Testing and estimation procedures for obtaining true stress-strain curves of stainless steels were discussed in order to calculate load carrying capacity of nuclear power plant components by elastic-plastic finite element analyses.

Biaxial Tensile Mechanical Properties of HTPB Solid Propellant

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2023
The purpose of this work is to study the effects of different loading rate ratios and loading speeds on the biaxial tension of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) solid propellant. A proper kind of biaxial tensile specimen with which the stresses in
