Testing and modelling the fatigue behaviour of GFRP composites – Effect of stress level, stress concentration and frequency [PDF]
The effects of stress level, stress concentration and frequency on the fatigue life of glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites have been investigated under tension-tension fatigue at a stress ratio of 0.1.

Thermoelastic stress concentrations.
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1966Abstract : Thermal stress concentration factors were determined for rectangular flat plates, some of which were penetrated by holes and some which had filleted width changes. The experimental data indicate that the thermal stress concentration factors would be less than tension stress concentration factors for the same bars.

Abstract This chapter considers the concentration of stress around a circular hole in a large plate. The two canonical problems of far-field radial loading and far-field tension are considered in detail. For both cases, cylindrical coordinates are employed to develop the solutions.

Influence of stress concentration on the recovery stress generation
Journal de Physique IV (Proceedings), 2003The present communication focuses on a numerical and experimental study of the influence of stress concentration on the overall SMA behavior in case of low cycle actuation, more particularly on the recovery stress generation. The results obtained using commercial ANSYS FEM software are compared with experimental recovery stress data registered upon ...

Stress concentrations induced by flow
Cardiovascular Research, 1972Flow through gelatin-agar tubes produced birefringence at local concentrations of mechanical stresses. The number of fringes varied with stream velocity. Stresses were maximal at valve roots, the downstream ends of stenoses, and on the inner walls of the test channels. The method facilitates the study of wall stress.

Stress Concentration in Concrete
Nature, 1964IN carrying out some experimental work in the torsion of hollow concrete box beams, the authors were surprised to discover that the size of the fillet radius at the internal corners has little or no effect on the strength of the section. That is to say that in practice, although not in theory, there was no measurable stress concentration effect.

Inhomogeneities of Minimum Stress Concentration
Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, 2004The problem of finding the shape of an elastic inhomogeneity that minimizes stress concentration is investigated. A class of ellipsoidal inhomogeneities is identified that serve as minimizers for inclusions which aie softer than the matnx. For hard inclusions, strain minnnimzing ellipsoidal inhormogeneilies are described.

Assembly stress for the reduction of stress concentration
Mechanics Research Communications, 2006Abstract A systematic study utilizing the experimental method of reflected photoelasticity was undertaken to determine the effects of assembly stress on the stresses around circular holes under uniaxial tension. The assembly stresses are the result of the contact and bearing stresses between the bolts and the member.

Stress Concentrations in Fillets
1953The stress concentrations arising in the fillets of fan and turbine blades, tie down rods, and bolt heads from axially symmetric centrifugal or static force loadings are treated two dimensionally by photoelastic and theoretical methods. The effects of the fillet radius, the height of the base, the mode of application of retention forces, and the ...
