Simulation of Stress Concentrations in Notches

open access: yesMetals, 2021
The fatigue life curves of materials are very sensitive to the magnitude of the stress amplitude. A small change or inaccuracy in the determination of the stress value causes large changes or inaccuracies in the calculated fatigue life estimate ...

Stress Concentration and Mechanical Strength of Cubic Lattice Architectures

open access: yesMaterials, 2018
The continuous design of cubic lattice architecture materials provides a wide range of mechanical properties. It makes possible to control the stress magnitude and the local maxima in the structure.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Concentration effects in the rheology of cement pastes: Krieger-Dougherty revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cement pastes are concentrated suspensions of granular particles in water and their rheology strongly affects the behaviour of all concretes and other cementitious materials.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A study on finite element of pre damaged stress concentration factor for a composite laminate member with central circular.

open access: yes, 2018
The study investigates the pre damaged stress concentration factor (SCF) for a composite laminate member (CLM) with central circular hole subjected to tensile loading.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

An Improved 2D Meshfree Radial Point Interpolation Method for Stress Concentration Evaluation of Welded Component

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The study of characterizing the stress concentration effects at welds is one of the most important research directions for predicting the fatigue life of welded components.

Stress concentration factors of multi-planar tubular XT-joints subjected to out-of-plane bending moments

open access: yes, 2020
The majority of tubular joints commonly found in offshore jacket structures are multi-planar. Investigating the effect of loaded out-of-plane braces on the values of the stress concentration factor (SCF) in offshore tubular joints has been the objective ...
