Cutout shape and reinforcement design for composite C-section beams under shear load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper reports a study of the performance of two forms of cutout and various edge reinforcements in a composite C-section beam under static shear load. Firstly, cutout shape effect on stress concentration was studied.

Stress concentration in octagonal honeycombs due to defects

open access: yesComposite structures, 2018
Different kinds of defects will form in the Additive Manufacturing process for honeycomb structures, which will lead to reductions in the mechanical properties.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Ultrasonic Phased Array Inspection Technology for Side Door of Ram BOP Shell

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2022
Ram BOP is the key equipment of well control and the sealing part of its side door has always been a weak point.Under high pressure impact and cyclic load, stress concentration occurs locally, producing fatigue cracks. In order to effectively detect the ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Finite Element Analysis on Mechanical Strength of Casing at Slip Hanger in Ultra-deep Wells

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2023
In order to solve the casing failure occurred at slip clamp of wellhead hanger when lifting the oil production cross for replacing the sealing element in an oilfield in Xinjiang, combined with the ø232.5 mm W type slip hanger used in Well X1,a 3D ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
