Rac1 and Rac2 GTPases are necessary for early erythropoietic expansion in the bone marrow but not in the spleen

open access: yesHaematologica, 2010
Background The small Rho GTPases Rac1 and Rac2 have both overlapping and distinct roles in actin organization, cell survival, and proliferation in various hematopoietic cell lineages. The role of these Rac GTPases in erythropoiesis has not yet been fully

Negative autoregulation by Fas stabilizes adult erythropoiesis and accelerates its stress response. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Erythropoiesis maintains a stable hematocrit and tissue oxygenation in the basal state, while mounting a stress response that accelerates red cell production in anemia, blood loss or high altitude.

Role of selenium in the pathophysiology of cardiorenal anaemia syndrome

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 770-780, April 2025.
Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have multiple bidirectional mechanisms, and anaemia is one of the critical factors that are associated with the progression of the two disorders [referred to as cardiorenal anaemia syndrome (CRAS)].

N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide and cardiorenal outcome in patients with anaemia in chronic kidney disease

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 848-858, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Blood levels of N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) may be modified by low renal clearance and anaemia. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the blood NT‐proBNP level on cardiovascular and renal outcomes in patients with these two manifestations.

Alterations in bone and erythropoiesis in hemolytic anemia: comparative study in bled, phenylhydrazine-treated and Plasmodium-infected mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Sustained erythropoiesis and concurrent bone marrow hyperplasia are proposed to be responsible for low bone mass density (BMD) in chronic hemolytic pathologies.

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1045-1058, April 2025.
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).

Nutraceutical Benefits of Anchomanes difformis Rhizome and Its Effects on Blood Glucose and Hepatorenal Function in Normoglycemic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Scientific analysis of Anchomanes difformis roots confirms significant nutraceutical potential, containing high levels of carbohydrates, proteins, and essential minerals. Phytochemical screening revealed antioxidants such as phenols and flavonoids, and although the extracts effectively lowered plasma glucose, safety testing showed dose‐dependent risks.

Safety and Metabolic Effects of Withania somnifera Seed Extract and Powder in Rats: Insights From DPP‐4 Molecular Docking

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Withania somnifera seed extract and powder improved metabolic parameters in rats, particularly at higher extract doses, without evident hepatic, renal, hematological, or histopathological toxicity. Molecular docking further predicted strong DPP‐4 inhibitory potential of withanone, supporting the antidiabetic potential of W. somnifera seeds.

Blood Biomarkers of Helicobacter pylori‐Infected Chronic Gastritis in Active Versus Stable Phases: A Clinical Indicator Analysis Combined With Proteomic and Metabolomic Investigations

open access: yesiMetaMed, EarlyView.
Combining clinical data with serum proteomics and metabolomics, the HGB–CAPZB–acetic acid model was developed as a potential diagnostic index to distinguish the active and stable stages of Helicobacter pylori‐infected chronic gastritis, and the related mechanism was explored through multi‐omics.
