Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Computational algorithms for stress field reconstruction in elastic domain using discrete observation data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
: Computational algorithms are presented for solution of the inverse problem of stress tensor reconstruction using observation data avalable in discrete set of points. The data can include both principal stress directions and stress magnitudes (

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Tomographic reconstruction of stress from photoelastic measurements using elastic regularization. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we consider the problem of recovering the stress tensor field of a three dimensional object from measurements of the polarization state of transmitted light.

Advanced Electron Microscopy and Microcomputed Tomography Analysis of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Base Superalloys After Short‐Term Multiaxial Creep

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work studies the anisotropic behavior of circular notched tensile specimens of Ni‐base superalloy single crystals during high‐temperature tensile creep along [001], [110], and [111]. Correlative scale‐bridging imaging of specimens reveals early rupture along [110] because 1) plastic deformation proceeds faster at notch center; 2) more (brittle ...

Three-Dimensional Crop Phenotyping for Crop Protection: Reconstruction Routes, Decision Pathways, and Digital-Twin Maturity

open access: yesPlants
Three-dimensional (3D) crop phenotyping is increasingly used to capture crop structure, but its value for crop protection is conditional rather than automatic.
