Objective The neurodegenerative processes driving the build‐up of disability in progressive multiple sclerosis (P‐MS) have not been fully elucidated. Recent data link cellular senescence (CS) to neurodegeneration. We investigated for evidence of CS in P‐MS and sought to determine its pattern.

Traditional Iranian butter samples were collected from different parts of Iran and were screened for the presence of Lactic acid bacteria. The selected LAB were identified to species level by biphasic approach. The ability of selected LAB to lower the cholestrol both in vitro and in situ was then determined.

Main Points Microglia become rapidly reactive in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Microglia are major producers of TNFα during status epilepticus, which impairs astrocyte coupling and promotes gliosis. Depletion of microglia attenuates acute seizure activity in TLE.

Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.
