A global study of enhanced stretching and diffusion in chaotic tangles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A global, finite-time study is made of stretching and diffusion in a class of chaotic tangles associated with fluids described by periodically forced two-dimensional dynamical systems.

Ultrafast laser-scanning time-stretch imaging at visible wavelengths

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2016
Optical time-stretch imaging enables the continuous capture of non-repetitive events in real time at a line-scan rate of tens of MHz—a distinct advantage for the ultrafast dynamics monitoring and high-throughput screening that are widely needed in ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Knots modify the coil–stretch transition in linear DNA polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We perform single-molecule DNA experiments to investigate the relaxation dynamics of knotted polymers and examine the steady-state behavior of knotted polymers in elongational fields. The occurrence of a knot reduces the relaxation time of a molecule and

Stretching of red blood cells at high strain rates

open access: yesPhysical Review Fluids, 2017
Analysis of many observations of individual red blood cells entering a microfluidic constriction yields a nonlinear elastic modulus of 60 $\ensuremath{\mu}$N/m, an order of magnitude larger than moduli found previously in the linearized regime.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

Neutrino and anti-neutrino transport in accretion disks

open access: yes, 2012
We numerically solve the one dimensional Boltzmann equation of the neutrino and anti-neutrino transport in accretion disks and obtain the fully energy dependent and direction dependent neutrino and anti-neutrino emitting spectra, under condition that the

Evaluation of initiating characteristics of osteoblastic calcium signaling responses to stretch by video rate time-course observation

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2018
Osteoblasts change their intracellular calcium ion concentration in response to mechanical stimuli. Although it has been reported that osteoblasts sense and respond to stretching of a substrate on which osteoblastic cells have adhered, the details of the
