Strings as solitons & black holes as strings [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1996
Supersymmetric closed string theories contain an infinite tower of BPS-saturated, oscillating, macroscopic strings in the perturbative spectrum. When these theories have dual formulations, this tower of states must exist nonperturbatively as solitons in the dual theories.

Form factor recursion relations at loop level

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We introduce a prescription to define form factor integrands at loop level in planar N = 4 $$ \mathcal{N}=4 $$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. This relies on a periodic kinematic configuration that has been instrumental to describe form factors at ...

AFFINE STRINGS [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 1993
A new model of bosonic strings is considered. An action of the model is the sum of the standard string action and a term describing an interaction of a metric with a linear (affine) connection. The Lagrangian of this interaction is an arbitrary analytic function f(R) of the scalar curvature. This is a classically integrable model.

Dstrings andFstrings from string loops [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1996
Since the background fields of the string low energy action are supposed to be the long range manifestation of a condensate of strings, the addition of world sheet actions to the low energy effective action needs some string theoretic explanation. In this paper we suggest that this may be understood, as being due to string loop effects.

String Sampling with Bidirectional String Anchors

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
The minimizers sampling mechanism is a popular mechanism for string sampling introduced independently by Schleimer et al. [SIGMOD 2003] and by Roberts et al. [Bioinf. 2004]. Given two positive integers $w$ and $k$, it selects the lexicographically smallest length-$k$ substring in every fragment of $w$ consecutive length-$k$ substrings (in every sliding

Methane-derived microbial biostimulant reduces greenhouse gas emissions and improves rice yield

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionMore than half of the world’s population consumes rice as their primary food. The majority of rice production is concentrated in Asia, with the top 10 rice-growing countries accounting for 84% of the world’s total rice cultivation.

Temperature-Modulated Micromechanical Thermal Analysis with Microstring Resonators Detects Multiple Coherent Features of Small Molecule Glass Transition

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Micromechanical Thermal Analysis utilizes microstring resonators to analyze a minimum amount of sample to obtain both the thermal and mechanical responses of the sample during a heating ramp.

THE STATIC STRING [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 2014
In this paper, the quantum fluctuation of a rigid and static string is reported to be identical to a free quantum particle. Solutions similar to this static string have already been found in the semiclassical quantization of pulsating strings, and our results show that the semiclassical quantization of pulsating strings is, in some cases, a ...

Open string - string junction transitions [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1998
It is confirmed that geodesic string junctions are necessary to describe the gauge vectors of symmetry groups that arise in the context of IIB superstrings compactified in the presence of nonlocal 7-branes. By examining the moduli space of 7-brane backgrounds for which the dilaton and axion fields are constant, we are able to describe explicitly and ...
