Higher derivative corrections to string inflation
Abstract We quantitatively estimate the leading higher derivative corrections to $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 1 supergravity derived from IIB string compactifications and study how they may affect moduli stabilisation and LVS ...

Scalable Task Planning via Large Language Models and Structured World Representations
This work efficiently combines graph‐based world representations with the commonsense knowledge in Large Language Models to enhance planning techniques for the large‐scale environments that modern robots will need to face. Planning methods often struggle with computational intractability when solving task‐level problems in large‐scale environments ...

Holographic corrections to the Veneziano amplitude
We propose a holographic computation of the 2→2 meson scattering in a curved string background, dual to a QCD-like theory. We recover the Veneziano amplitude and compute a perturbative correction due to the background curvature.

Strings on Orbifolded PP-waves [PDF]
We show that the string spectrum in the pp-wave limit of AdS_5\times S^5/Z_M (orbifolded pp-wave) is reproduced from the N=2 quiver gauge theory by quantizing the Green-Schwarz string theory on the orbifolded pp-wave in light cone gauge. We find that the

This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Anatomy, geometry, and radio repairmen: The mathematics of flawed fretted instruments
Fretted string instruments play out of tune; luthiers1 and technicians generally adjust or design the instruments to be in tune when played open and at the 12th fret.

On the effective theory of long open strings
We study the general low-energy effective action on long open strings, such as confining strings in pure gauge theories. Using Lorentz invariance, we find that for a string of length R, the leading deviation from the Nambu-Goto energy levels generically ...

Higher-Genus Corrections to Black-String Solution [PDF]
One-string-loop (torus topology) corrections to black-string backgrounds corresponding to gauged SL (2,R)× R/R WZW model are calculated using β-function equations derived from string-loop-corrected effective action. Loop-corrected backgrounds are used to calculate ADM mass of the black string.
