Experimental string field theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2003
We develop efficient algorithms for level-truncation computations in open bosonic string field theory. We determine the classical action in the universal subspace to level (18,54) and apply this knowledge to numerical evaluations of the tachyon condensate string field. We obtain two main sets of results.

String scattering amplitudes and deformed cubic string field theory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
We study string scattering amplitudes by using the deformed cubic string field theory which is equivalent to the string field theory in the proper-time gauge.

D-brane effective field theory from string field theory [PDF]

open access: green, 2000
Open string field theory is considered as a tool for deriving the effective action for the massless or tachyonic fields living on D-branes. Some simple calculations are performed in open bosonic string field theory which validate this approach. The level

On string fields and superstring field theories [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2009
We offer some thoughts regarding the space of string fields. We suggest that this space should be identified as the odd component of a star-algebra and focus among other issues on the role of the mid-point. We argue that theories with mid-point insertions in the action, such as the modified cubic theory can be well behaved, even if this mid-point ...

Mean string field theory: Landau-Ginzburg theory for 1-form symmetries

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2022
By analogy with the Landau-Ginzburg theory of ordinary zero-form symmetries, we introduce and develop a Landau-Ginzburg theory of one-form global symmetries, which we call mean string field theory.

THE SPACE OF STRING CONFIGURATIONS IN STRING FIELD THEORY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 1990
In this paper we consider the set of maps from the interval [0, π] which constitute the argument of the functionals of a String Field Theory. We show that in order to correctly reproduce results of the dual model one has to include all square integrable functions in the functional integral, or Ω0 in terms of Sobolev spaces.

Mapping between Witten and lightcone string field theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We propose a transformation between the off-shell field variables of Witten’s open bosonic string field theory and the traditional lightcone string field theory of Kaku and Kikkawa, based on Mandelstam’s interacting string picture.

String theory in electromagnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2003
A review of various aspects of superstrings in background electromagnetic fields is presented. Topics covered include the Born-Infeld action, spectrum of open strings in background gauge fields, the Schwinger mechanism, finite-temperature formalism and Hagedorn behaviour in external fields, Debye screening, D-brane scattering, thermodynamics of D ...
