String bit models for superstring [PDF]
We extend the model of string as a polymer of string bits to the case of superstring. We mainly concentrate on type II-B superstring, with some discussion of the obstacles presented by not II-B superstring, together with possible strategies for surmounting them. As with previous work on bosonic string we work within the light-cone gauge.

Counting string theory standard models
We derive an approximate analytic relation between the number of consistent heterotic Calabi-Yau compactifications of string theory with the exact charged matter content of the standard model of particle physics and the topological data of the internal ...

Aspects of Topological String Theory [PDF]
Two aspects of the topological string and its applications are considered in this thesis. Firstly, non-perturbative contributions to the OSV conjecture relating four-dimensional extremal black holes and the closed topological string partition function ...

String/Gauge Duality and Penrose Limit [PDF]
Berenstein, Maldacena, and Nastase have recently discovered a particular limit of AdS/CFT correspondence where string theory in a plane wave background is dual to a sector of $mathcal N =4 SYM in a double scaling limit.

Modified models of a free boson string and their solutions
In this paper we consider the modified models of a free boson string and examine their dynamics. Modified models of the boson string are investigated from the point of view of the second order formalism (the Polyakov action).

Supergravity solution-generating techniques and canonical transformations of σ-models from O(D, D)
Within the framework of the flux formulation of Double Field Theory (DFT) we employ a generalised Scherk-Schwarz ansatz and discuss the classification of the twists that in the presence of the strong constraint give rise to constant generalised fluxes ...

On a ‘Replicating Character String’ Model [PDF]
In Chaudhuri and Dasgupta's 2006 paper a certain stochastic model for ‘replicating character strings’ (such as in DNA sequences) was studied. In their model, a random ‘input’ sequence was subjected to random mutations, insertions, and deletions, resulting in a random ‘output’ sequence.
