Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Mechanical and Structural Properties of Microwave Sintered Tin-Copper-Antimony Alloys
Tin-copper-antimony (pewter) alloys have been traditionally produced by a casting process which consumes large amounts of energy, time and as a result is expensive. This research aims to investigate the possibilities of implementing powder metallurgy for

This paper focuses on the reinforcing of Poly(lactic acid) with chopped basalt fibres by using silane treated and untreated basalt fibres. Composite materials with 5–10–15–20–30–40 wt% basalt fibre contents were prepared from silane sized basalt fibres

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Hydrogen effects on mechanical properties of 18% Cr ferritic stainless steel
Role of microstructure in susceptibility of 18Cr ferritic stainless steel to hydrogen embrittlement was studied. Specimens of the studied steel were charged with hydrogen electrochemically from 0.1 N H2SO4 solution under controlled cathodic potential ...
