Revisiting the Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis in Pakistanhttps://kiet.edu.pk/marketforces/index.php/marketforces/article/view/446

open access: yesMarket Forces, 2021
Several studies have already determined an inverted U-shaped Environment Kuznets Curve (EKC) in Pakistan. The existing literature has not considered structural breaks (SBs) in EKC-related studies in Pakistan.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

1.An Examination of Malaysia’s Structural Breaks Vis-À-Vis Japan and the USA [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Commerce and Social Sciences, 2012
This paper primarily examines whether Malaysia has had experienced any structural breaks in comparison with its main two trading partners, namely the USA and Japan in 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

Structural breaks in the cattle price series in the State of São Paulo, Brazil

open access: yesEconomia Aplicada, 2016
This paper examines the existence of structural breaks in the live cattle price series in the state of São Paulo between 1954 and 2012. Due to the importance of cattle ranching in Brazil and the characteristics of the series of cattle price, such as ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
