Computer programs perform spectral analyses of up to seven time series [PDF]
Computer programs perform statistical spectral analyses of up to seven time series. These programs should have applicability to a variety of engineering systems in the fields of geophysics, physiology, acoustics, and structural ...

Nonlinear output frequency response functions of MDOF systems with multiple nonlinear components [PDF]
In engineering practice, most mechanical and structural systems are modeled as Multi-Degree-of-Freedom (MDOF) systems. When some components within the systems have nonlinear characteristics, the whole system will behave nonlinearly.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

On Engineering Support for Business Process Modelling and Redesign [PDF]
Currently, there is an enormous (research) interest in business process redesign (BPR). Several management-oriented approaches have been proposed showing how to make BPR work. However, detailed descriptions of empirical experience are few.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Unusual structural tuning of magnetism in cuprate perovskites
Understanding the structural underpinnings of magnetism is of great fundamental and practical interest. Se_{1-x}Te_{x}CuO_{3} alloys are model systems for the study of this question, as composition-induced structural changes control their magnetic ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

CAD-CAE methods to support restoration and museum exhibition of bronze statues: the “Principe Ellenistico” [PDF]
Ancient bronze statues mainly require material integrity assessment and restoration. Restoration may include also the update of the museum exhibition, defining new structural frames and fragment re-composition to preserve the statue and improve the ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
