A Bayesian approach to constrained single- and multi-objective optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This article addresses the problem of derivative-free (single- or multi-objective) optimization subject to multiple inequality constraints. Both the objective and constraint functions are assumed to be smooth, non-linear and expensive to evaluate.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

The Dynamic Characteristics of the Water Entry of a Lifeboat

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) stipulates that all ships must be equipped with lifesaving devices. The freefall lifeboat has the advantages of simple operation, fast release speed, and good safety performance, so it is

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Numerical Study of Vortex-Induced Vibration Characteristics of a Long Flexible Marine Riser

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In ocean engineering, interactions between ocean currents and risers lead to regular vortex shedding on both sides of the riser, causing structural deformation.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

A Passive Time Reversal Method with a Metamodel for Underwater Source Localization

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
A passive time reversal method with a metamodel (PTR-MM) is proposed to improve underwater source localization under ocean conditions. PTR-MM eliminates model mismatch errors by replacing the conventional sound propagation model with a Kriging metamodel.

Continuous Optimization of Adaptive Quadtree Structures

open access: yes, 2018
We present a novel continuous optimization method to the discrete problem of quadtree optimization. The optimization aims at achieving a quadtree structure with the highest mechanical stiffness, where the edges in the quadtree are interpreted as ...

Idempotent Structures in Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences, 2001
This survey may be considered as an abridged version of the monographs [\textit{V. N. Kolokoltsov} and \textit{V. P. Maslov}, ``Idempotent analysis and its applications to the optimal control'' (in Russian) (1994; Zbl 0857.49022); ``Idempotent analysis and its applications'' (English translation) (1998; Zbl 0941.93001)] updated with some of the more ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
