An STM study of the step structure of Pb(110) and Pb(111)

The (110) and (111) surfaces of lead are investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy. They are atomically resolved with corrugations of 0.1A and 0.6A respectively. The STM images allow conclusions about the motion of the atoms at step edges and step step interaction.

Time-resolved structural study of Pb(100)

Physical Review Letters, 1993
Time-resolved reflection high-energy electron diffraction is used to study the structural behavior of Pb(100) subjected to 200 ps laser pulses. Analysis of the electron diffraction intensity indicates that residual order is present on the surface at a temperature of 615[plus minus]20 K, where the bulk melting temperature of Pb is 600.7 K.

Structural features of Pb/Ag, Ag/Cu and Cu/Pb multilayers

Abstract Layered structures of Pb/Ag, Ag/Cu and Cu/Pb films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction. The Pb/Ag and Ag/Cu films showed satellite peaks due to superlattice structures. The appearance of coherent layer stacking is discussed in terms of the crystal natures of the constituent elements including the lattice mismatch and surface energy.

The PbSSi heterojunction I: Growth and structure of PbS films on silicon

Abstract PbS films on silicon substrates were prepared using the method of Davis and Knorr. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and reflection high energy electron diffraction techniques were used to characterize the film structure. Our results show a strongly fiber-oriented structure in the 〈100〉 direction.

The Structural Role of Ag in Galena PbS. A XANES Study

A number of Ag-bearing galena samples (PbS) has been investigated by Ag K-edge XAS in order to determine the Ag structural role within the host galena structure. Despite the very low absorber concentration and the high absorbance of the PbS matrix, XANES spectra were successfully collected for samples with Ag content down to 500 ppm.

On the 2Δp/n structure of PbPbOPb tunnel junctions

The fine-structure of the tunneling characteristics observed [1] in PbPbOPb superconducting tunnel junctions has been interpreted as 2 Δp/n structure due to the breaking of p electron pairs and the tunneling of n electrons in the same processes.

Superdeformed structures in Pb-197,Pb-198
