Design, synthesis, X-ray structure, Hirshfeld surface, and NLO behavior of 3-bromo-2-[(2E)-2-(2-oxonaphthalen-1(2H)-ylidene)hydrazinyl]benzoic acid

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica
The crystalline form of the compound, 3-bromo-2-[(2E)-2-(2-oxonaphthalen-1(2H)-ylidene)hydrazinyl]benzoic acid (BOHB), has been synthesized in good yield by diazotization of 2-amino-3-bromobenzoic acid followed by a reaction with β-naphthol.

Structural Properties of the Caenorhabditis elegans Neuronal Network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Despite recent interest in reconstructing neuronal networks, complete wiring diagrams on the level of individual synapses remain scarce and the insights into function they can provide remain unclear.

Study on Blast Mitigation Protection of Underground Station Structures Using Phononic Crystals

open access: yesBuildings
Urban subways, as critical strategic spaces, require underground structures with sufficient blast-resistant capabilities. To evaluate the blast resistance performance of underground station structures under ground-level nuclear explosion air shock waves,

Structural Properties of Two-Dimensional Polymers

open access: yes, 1993
We present structural properties of two-dimensional polymers as far as they can be described by percolation theory. The percolation threshold, critical exponents and fractal dimensions of clusters are determined by computer simulation and compared to the

Grain boundary energy affected initial oxidation on Ni-based superalloy revealed by in situ environmental TEM

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation
Inconel 718 Ni-based polycrystalline superalloys exhibit excellent mechanical properties, while the type and nature of the grain boundaries are important for their corrosive properties.

Rachis morphology cannot accurately predict the mechanical performance of primary feathers in extant (and therefore fossil) feathered flyers [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2017
It was previously suggested that the flight ability of feathered fossils could be hypothesized from the diameter of their feather rachises. Central to the idea is the unvalidated assumption that the strength of a primary flight feather (i.e. its material

Electronic and structural properties of alkali doped SWNT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Comprehensive experiments on structural and transport properties of alkali intercalated single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) are presented. The increasing electron density was measured as a shift of the Drude-edge in optical reflectivity in-situ with ...

On Property-like Structures

open access: yesTheory and Applications of Categories, 1997
Summary: A category may bear many monoidal structures, but (to within a unique isomorphism) only one structure of `category with finite products'. To capture such distinctions, we consider on a 2-category those 2-monads for which algebra structure is essentially unique if it exists, giving a precise mathematical definition of `essentially unique' and ...

Why and When Are Evidence‐Based Interventions Adopted in Paediatric Supportive Care? A Qualitative Exploration of the Determinants of Photobiomodulation Implementation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral mucositis is a common and debilitating side effect of childhood cancer and stem cell transplant treatments. It affects the quality of life of children and young people (CYP) and places a strain on services. Photobiomodulation is recommended for oral mucositis prevention in international guidance but is poorly implemented in UK ...
