Isotropically Random Orthogonal Matrices: Performance of LASSO and Minimum Conic Singular Values

open access: yes, 2015
Recently, the precise performance of the Generalized LASSO algorithm for recovering structured signals from compressed noisy measurements, obtained via i.i.d. Gaussian matrices, has been characterized.

A numerical approach for modelling thin cracked plates with XFEM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The modelization of bending plates with through the thickness cracks is investigated. We consider the Kirchhoff-Love plate model which is valid for very thin plates.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Computing Lower Bounds of µ-Values for a Class of Rotary Electrical Machines

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2019
In this article we present the computations of lower bounds of well-known mathematical quantity in control theory known as structured singular value for a family of structured matrices obtained for a DC Motor, that is an electrical machine.

Computing GCRDs of Approximate Differential Polynomials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Differential (Ore) type polynomials with approximate polynomial coefficients are introduced. These provide a useful representation of approximate differential operators with a strong algebraic structure, which has been used successfully in the exact ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Analysis of feedback systems with structured uncertainties [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
The paper introduces a general approach for analysing linear systems with structured uncertainty based on a new generalised spectral theory for matrices.

Low rank approximation and decomposition of large matrices using error correcting codes

open access: yes, 2017
Low rank approximation is an important tool used in many applications of signal processing and machine learning. Recently, randomized sketching algorithms were proposed to effectively construct low rank approximations and obtain approximate singular ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...
