A yeast model of 5‐oxoproline accumulation reveals a general toleration to 5‐oxoproline

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a yeast model, we show that even high accumulation of 5‐oxoproline causes only mild cellular stress and does not trigger oxidative stress. Instead, cells adapt by activating efflux pumps and diverse protective pathways, suggesting that previously proposed harmful effects of 5‐oxoproline may arise from indirect metabolic imbalances rather than the

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Effect of teacher autonomy support on student engagement in physical education classrooms in a blended learning environment: the mediating role of performance expectancy and academic self-efficacy

open access: yesBMC Psychology
Background With the rapid rise of online learning in higher education, blened learning models have become increasingly common. In this context, teacher autonomy-support strategies are widely used to help students engage more effectively and improve ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Rethinking active learning in medical education: a comparative study of inquiry-based and team-based learning on student performance and satisfaction

open access: yesAdvances in Physiology Education
Active learning fosters critical thinking, autonomy, and deep learning. Whereas team-based learning (TBL) is common, inquiry-based learning (IBL) offers a more student-centered, inquiry-driven alternative.

Engaging students in learning activities: It is not autonomy support or structure but autonomy support and structure.

open access: yesJournal of Educational Psychology, 2010
We investigated 2 engagement-fostering aspects of teachers’ instructional styles—autonomy support and structure—and hypothesized that students’ engagement would be highest when teachers provided high levels of both. Trained observers rated teachers’ instructional styles and students’ behavioral engagement in 133 public high school classrooms in the ...

Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Streamline dissertation supervision using Padlet

open access: yesJournal of Learning Development in Higher Education
Dissertation supervision requires clear communication, consistent feedback, and effective progress tracking. Traditional methods often struggle to meet these needs, especially in remote or hybrid settings.
