Clinical utility of consecutive volume scanning dual‐energy CT in differentiating hemorrhage from contrast staining in ischemic stroke patients

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 26, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Background and Purpose Accurate differentiation between hemorrhage and iodinated contrast staining is critical for managing ischemic stroke patients following revascularization. While dual‐energy CT (DECT) has shown promise in this context, studies have predominantly focused on dual‐source or fast‐kV switching systems. This study evaluates the

Red Blood Cell Membrane Lipidomics: Potential Biomarkers Detecting Method for Plasma Volume Overload and Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Chronic Heart Failure Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 33, September 4, 2025.
A novel RBC indicator, ESI, is better than the traditional RBC indicators and is associated with CHF prevalence and in‐hospital death. RBC membrane lipidomics, Cer 18:0;O2/16:0, and LPE 18:0, are associated with plasma volume overload and MACE in CHF patients, but these plasma lipids could not.

AI in Neurology: Everything, Everywhere, all at Once PART 2: Speech, Sentience, Scruples, and Service

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 98, Issue 3, Page 431-447, September 2025.
[Color figure can be viewed at www.annalsofneurology.org] Artificial intelligence (AI) applications are finding use in real‐world neurological settings. Whereas part 1 of this 3‐part review series focused on the birth of AI and its foundational principles, this part 2 review shifts gears to explore more practical aspects of neurological care.

Population pharmacokinetics and optimized dosing of cefuroxime in critically ill patients

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 91, Issue 9, Page 2755-2761, September 2025.
Abstract Cefuroxime is a second‐generation cephalosporin widely used in the intensive care unit (ICU). ICU patients have high variability in interpatient pharmacokinetics (PK), but the extent of this variation is unclear. We performed an observational PK study in ICU patients.

From Tradition to Innovation: Acupuncture Therapies Targeting Ferroptosis in Neurological Disorders

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 9, September 2025.
• Ferroptosis drives cognitive decline in stroke and age‐related NDDs Iron‐dependent lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress trigger ferroptosis, a central mechanism underlying neuronal injury and cognitive deterioration in stroke and age‐related NDDs.
