Ultrasound Imaging of the Superficial and Deep Fasciae Thickness of Upper Limbs in Lymphedema Patients Versus Healthy Subjects

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Lymphedema, a common source of disability among oncology patients, necessitates continuous targeted rehabilitation. Recent studies have revealed the role of connective tissue in this pathology; however, despite existing research on

Association Between Cytosolic Glycerol 3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Gene Expression in Human Subcutaneous Adipose Tissue and BMI

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2013
Background/Aims: Cytosolic glycerol 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (cGPDH) is a key enzyme providing glycerol 3-phosphate for triacylglycerol synthesis in adipose tissue and is regarded as a marker for adipocyte differentiation.

Importance of geometry of the extracellular matrix in endochondral bone differentiation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Subcutaneous implantation of coarse powders (74-420 micron) of demineralized diaphyseal bone matrix resulted in the local differentiation of endochondral bone.

Subcutaneous tissue flaps for hallux covering [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, 2010
Abstract With the understanding of the extensive vascular supply of the subcutaneous tissue, of its efficacy in the protection of the anatomical structures and of its capability of promoting the adequate functioning of very stressed regions of the human body, the use of subcutaneous adipose flaps has become a valid and sometimes the only ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Melanosis Contributing to Downgrading in Processed Broiler Chickens in Argentina: Preliminary Diagnostic Findings

open access: yesPoultry
Melanosis is scarcely reported as a potential cause of carcass downgrading in broilers worldwide. We described the preliminary diagnostic findings of dermal and celomic fat tissue melanosis in a total of four episodes of increased downgrading in 31-to-50-

Short-term effects of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists on fat distribution in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: an ultrasonography study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
AIMS:Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) induce weight loss and reduction in adipose tissue, but the effects of GLP-1 RA on the distribution of fat deposits have been poorly investigated. METHODS: In 25 patients with type 2 diabetes (16

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (
