Unraveling the Interplay Between Collaborative Governance and Experimentation for Transformative Potential in Circular Water Systems: A Dutch Case Study

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, Volume 36, Issue 5, Page 1282-1303, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Freshwater availability is a critical climate change challenge in coastal delta regions. This challenge requires a transformative change toward circular water management. While experimentation and collaborative governance are recognized as enablers of transformative change, their interaction remains complex and insufficiently understood ...

Submarine Groundwater Discharge at a Mega‐Tidal Beach

open access: yesHydrological Processes
ABSTRACTTidally influenced groundwater systems in coastal environments represent important mixing zones of fresh groundwater and circulating seawater, manifesting as submarine groundwater discharge (SGD). Water circulation induced by tidal pumping enhances the exchange of chemicals between aquifers and coastal waters and thereby influences the ...

Riverbank Erosion Susceptibility Under Varying Sedimentological and Freeze–Thaw Conditions in Cold Climate Regions

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 10, October 2026.
Freeze–thaw processes, moisture, and sediment properties control riverbank erosion in boreal–subarctic rivers. Field measurements, geotechnical analyses and monitoring reveal continuous, seasonally driven erosion, while climate projections indicate reduced freezing, potentially increasing erosion risk under warming conditions.

SUBMARINE GROUNDWATER DISCHARGE MEASUREMENT ON THE SANDY UNCONFINED AQUIFER AT THE CARNAVAL BEACH, ANCOL (JAKARTA BAY) [PDF]

open access: yes
Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) is defined as all direct discharge of subsurface fluids into coastal zone. Components of SGD consist of fresh submarine groundwater discharge and the recirculated saline seawater discharge. SGD could act as a pathway

From net sink to episodic source: Seasonal dissolved inorganic carbon budget in an intertidal basin

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract The back‐barrier basin of Spiekeroog in the East Frisian Wadden Sea is a biogeochemically dynamic intertidal system that plays a key role in regulating coastal carbon fluxes and regional dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) budgets. Compared to total alkalinity, DIC fluxes in this region remain poorly quantified, limiting a comprehensive ...

Environmental filtering and spatial structuring differ among body‐size and reproductive‐mode groups of microcrustacean zooplankton in hardwater lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Local environmental factors are considered primary drivers of lake zooplankton community assembly, yet the roles of landscape factors and dispersal processes remain underexplored. We examined 78 hardwater lakes across the northern Great Plains (Canada) to evaluate how local (water chemistry, morphometric, and catchment characteristics ...

Preliminary study on tracing 14C in groundwater-derived dissolved organic carbon: transport, transformation, and seawater recirculation in Jeju Island, South Korea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) is a key but understudied pathway in the terrestrial-oceanic dissolved organic carbon (DOC) cycle. In this study, fresh and saline groundwater samples were collected from two sites on Jeju Island, South Korea: Hwasun

Modeling the influences of land reclamation on groundwater systems: A case study in Shekou peninsula, Shenzhen, China

open access: yes, 2010
Land has been reclaimed along the coastal areas in many parts of the world to meet the growing demand for houses and other land use. Over 15km2 of land has been reclaimed around the Shekou peninsula, Shenzhen, China. Land reclamation may have significant

Nature of Surface Microcracks on Phosphorus Micro‐Alloyed Copper

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, Volume 77, Issue 10, Page 1644-1652, October 2026.
SSRT tests and microscopic characterization methods were used to study the effect of plastic deformation and environment on the formation of surface microcracks on Cu‐OFP. Results show that, while ambient conditions produced thousands of microcracks per mm2, exposure to sulfide water resulted in fewer microcracks with no evidence of crack growth ...
