On the losses in substrate integrated waveguides

This paper presents a study of losses in substrate integrated waveguide. Three mechanisms of losses are considered and separately investigated: side radiation, ohmic loss, and dielectric loss. A systematic comparison of waveguides with different geometry, operating in the same frequency band, is reported.

By using a transverse resonance technique, the frequency characteristics of slotted substrate integrated waveguides (SSIWs), slotted half mode substrate integrated waveguides (slotted HMSIWs) and slotted parallel plate SIWs loaded with capacitances and inductances are analyzed theoretically and related to those of conventional waveguides.

Ridged substrate integrated waveguide

In this paper, a ridged substrate integrated waveguide is introduced, which has lower cutoff frequency of TE 10 mode than without ridge. The cutoff conditions and transmission performances of ridged substrate integrated waveguide are studied theoretically. And an example is produced for confirmation.

Substrate Integrated Waveguide Corrugated Horn Antenna

In this paper, a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) H-plane horn antenna is proposed. We first optimize the antenna in size to obtain the maximum gain. The SIW horn antenna is then corrugated by adding some vias in order to further improve the beam pattern. We use half power beam width (HPBW) as a metric for this improvement.

Substrate integrated radiating waveguides with a coaxial feed

In the present paper the study of coaxially fed substrate integrated waveguides (SIW) structures is presented. A novel feed configuration is proposed consisting of a ring loaded coaxial probe. The analysis of the structure is carried out with the method of moments and with FEM (HFSS). Applications to radiating SIW will be presented. (4 pages)

Millimeter-wave substrate integrated waveguide filters

This paper presents the design and performance of millimeter waves filter realized with the SIW technology. Using the SIW, low-cost filter can be manufactured at millimeter-wave without tuning.
