Substrate integrated waveguide filters and mechanical/electrical reconfigurable half-mode substrate integrated waveguide filters

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 2012
In this paper, novel evanescent mode substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) filters are proposed, and their applications to mechanical and electrical reconfigurable bandpass filters (BPFs) are studied. SIW and HMSIW loaded with coupled complementary split-ring resonators achieve forward electromagnetic

A planar diplexer using hybrid substrate integrated waveguide and coplanar waveguide

2017 IEEE 17th International Conference on Ubiquitous Wireless Broadband (ICUWB), 2017
This paper proposes a planar diplexer using hybrid substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and coplanar waveguide (CPW). On the basis of hybrid SIW-CPW structure which possesses high quality factor, adjustable transmission zeros, and compact size simultaneously, further employing microstrip T-junction which also possesses high performance and compact size,

Microstrip-to-waveguide transition in planar form using a substrate integrated waveguide

2018 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS), 2018
Interconnection of waveguides or horn antennas to a printed circuit board (PCB) is still a challenge in modern system design. Currently, this requires high effort since the waveguide cannot easily be connected to a microstrip line or coplanar grounded waveguide.

Substrate integrated waveguide phase shifter

2011 International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Control (ICECC), 2011
An analogue variable phase shifter on the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technique operating at 26 GHz is proposed which employs varactor diodes, properly coupled to the SIW coupler to achieve a continuous electronic control of the phase shift. A vertical transition between 50 Ohm SMA and SIW is used for direct coupling.

A Review on Substrate Integrated Waveguide Transitions

2019 TEQIP III Sponsored International Conference on Microwave Integrated Circuits, Photonics and Wireless Networks (IMICPW), 2019
Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) is the key technology for implementing of mm-wave integrated circuits and systems. A low loss, compact, flexible and cost-effective solution for integrating elements on the same substrate is made possible by SIW structures.

Slow-Wave Substrate Integrated Waveguide

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2014
This paper describes a new concept of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW): a slow-wave substrate integrated waveguide (SW-SIW). Compared to a conventional SIW, the proposed topology requires a double-layer substrate with a bottom layer including internal metallized via-holes connected to the bottom conductive plane. The slow-wave effect is obtained by

On the losses in substrate-integrated waveguides and cavities

International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies, 2009
This paper presents a study of losses in substrate-integrated waveguides (SIWs) and cavities. Three mechanisms of losses are considered and separately investigated, namely radiation leakage, ohmic loss, and dielectric loss. A systematic comparison of waveguides with different geometry, operating at different frequencies, is reported. This study permits

Substrate integrated waveguide antennas and arrays

2017 1st International Conference on Electronics, Materials Engineering and Nano-Technology (IEMENTech), 2017
At microwave and millimeter wave frequency, SIW technology is an emerging aspirant for the progress of antennas, circuits and components yielding a link between planar and non planar technology. Present study intends to provide an impression and exploitation of Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) based antenna design subject to different structures ...

Substrate Integrated Waveguide Diplexer Design

2020
This chapter implements the microwave diplexer circuit model established in Chapter 4, using the twenty-first substrate integrated waveguide transmission line technology. No separate junction (resonant or non-resonant) was utilised in achieving the diplexer, as the use of an external junction for energy distribution in a diplexer normally increases ...
