Exogenous GABA is quickly metabolized to succinic acid and fed into the plant TCA cycle

open access: yesPlant Signalling & Behavior, 2019
Exogenous application of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) could improve plant tolerance to environmental stresses such as hypoxia, heat, cold, drought, and salt stress. However, the mechanism by which GABA relieves stress is poorly understood. Here, we studied

Conformation‐Modulated Lignin for Durable and High‐Output Cellulosic Triboelectric Materials Toward Self‐Powered Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Conformation‐engineered alkali lignin with flexible aliphatic side chains is integrated into cellulose to suppress tribo‐induced fiber fibrillation and interfacial wear. Dynamic chain adaptability enhances frictional energy dissipation and dielectric polarization, enabling durable, high‐output triboelectric sensing with excellent recyclability and ...

Bio-succinic acid production: Escherichia coli strains design from genome-scale perspectives

open access: yesAIMS Bioengineering, 2017
Escherichia coli (E. coli) has been established to be a native producer of succinic acid (a platform chemical with different applications) via mixed acid fermentation reactions. Genome-scale metabolic models (GEMs) of E.

Dual antibacterial effect of immobilized quaternary ammonium and aliphatic groups on PVC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A coating comprising quaternary ammonium salts (QAS) and aliphatic moieties was formed on the poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) surface in order to confer antibacterial activity. This was achieved by grafting mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane onto PVC, followed by

Radium Speciation in Simulated Digestive Biofluids: Insights from Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry and Thermodynamic Modeling

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, EarlyView.
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) combined with thermodynamic modeling provides the first direct characterization of radium speciation in synthetic gastrointestinal biofluids. Free Ra2+ ions predominate with minimal protein binding and negligible EDTA complexation. Crown ethers enable effective Ra complexation.
