Influence of experimental context on the development of anhedonia in male mice imposed to chronic social stress [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Anhedonia is one of the key symptoms of depression in humans. Consumption of 1% sucrose solution supplemented with 0.2% vanillin was studied in two experimental contexts in male mice living under chronic social stress induced by daily experience of defeats in agonistic interactions and leading to development of depression.

Sugar Concentration Measurement System Using Radiofrequency Sensor

open access: yesSensors, 2019
A sugar solution measurement system was developed based on the dielectric properties of the sucrose molecule. An ac conductivity and tan δ study as a function of the frequency was performed to find the suitable frequency range for the measuring ...

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.

Sucrose Solutions as Prospective Medium to Study the Vesicle Structure: SAXS and SANS study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Compounds v. 328 (2001) p. 71-76, 2001
The possibility to use sucrose solutions as medium for X-ray and neutron small-angle scattering experiments has been explored for dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) vesicles and mixed DMPC/C_(12)E_(8) aggregates. The influence of sucrose concentration on phospholipid vesicles size and polydispersity has been investigated by complimentary X-ray and ...

Molecular regulation of seed and fruit set [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Seed and fruit set are established during and soon after fertilization and determine seed and fruit number, their final size and, hence, yield potential.

Sucrose and ABA regulate starch biosynthesis in maize through a novel transcription factor, ZmEREB156

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Sucrose is not only the carbon source for starch synthesis, but also a signal molecule. Alone or in coordination with ABA, it can regulate the expression of genes involved in starch synthesis.

Dysfunctional tetraspanin 7 (TSP‐7) in Caenorhabditis elegans promotes; increases in average life‐ & health‐span, stress‐induced survival and motility

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The C. elegans tetraspanin‐7 (tsp‐7) is a homologue of human CD63, which is a negative regulator of autophagy. The C. elegans strain, tm5761, has a dysfunctional (knockout) tsp‐7 gene. When compared to the wild‐type strain, the tm5761 strain shows increased: life‐ and health‐span; thermotolerance, and stress‐induced locomotion.

Decrease of vanillin sucrose intake by victorious and defeated mice: development of anhedonia? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Hedonic reactions to various rewards play a key role in various forms of motivated behavior. The influence of repeated experience of social victories or defeats in daily agonistic interactions between male mice on voluntary consumption of vanillin ...

Gene regulatory networks elucidating huanglongbing disease mechanisms. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Next-generation sequencing was exploited to gain deeper insight into the response to infection by Candidatus liberibacter asiaticus (CaLas), especially the immune disregulation and metabolic dysfunction caused by source-sink disruption.

Soman induces endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis of cerebral organoids via the GRP78‐ATF6‐CHOP signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).
