Site‐Selective Peptide and Protein Functionalization with Cyclopropenium Cations

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 52, December 22, 2025.
A cysteine‐selective bioconjugation using aromatic cyclopropenium cations is reported. The reaction proceeds rapidly under aqueous conditions, enabling site‐selective installation of tetrasubstituted cyclopropene rings on peptides and proteins. The method shows preference for internal cysteines and provides conjugates that serve as efficient radical ...

Carbohydrate‐Based Drug Discovery: Synthetic Strategies and Clinical Applications

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Chemistry, Volume 66, Issue 3, May 2026.
The picture depicts the molecules discussed in the review. On the left side, the general scaffold of sugars is shown. Next to it are four carbohydrate‐based molecules, including remdesivir, islatravir, empagliflozin, and Globo‐H. Remdesivir and islatravir contain a substituted ribose ring attached to a modified nucleobase.

Difluorinative Cyclopropene Rearrangement by I(I)/I(III) Catalysis: Regio‐ and Stereoselective Synthesis of Allyl Difluorides

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 50, December 8, 2025.
A difluorinative rearrangement of substituted cyclopropenes is disclosed using I(I)/I(III) catalysis. This platform enables di‐, tri‐, and tetra‐substituted allyl difluorides to be generated with high levels of stereoselectivity, with the I(III) center serving as a traceless directing group.

Analysis of Fixture Efficiency and Behavioral Factors of Indoor Residential Water Use of Single‐Family Households

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract This study examines indoor water use patterns in single‐family households by analyzing commonalities and differences between household water use categories, the relative importance of fixture efficiency versus behavioral factors in explaining water use and its differences between household categories, and the correlation of pronounced weather ...

May I pick your brain? Local minds as living cadastres in a Portuguese eleventh‐century lawsuit

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 34, Issue 2, Page 231-253, May 2026.
In the context of a dispute with the monastery of Lorvão, in the late eleventh century, the monks of Vacariça, near Coimbra (modern Portugal), carried out a field enquiry in the village of Recardães. This was part of a failed attempt to repossess a number of land plots that they claimed were theirs, but had lost control of.

Exercise‐induced dynamic hyperinflation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 5, Page 2476-2484, 1 May 2026.
Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an inflammatory lung disease caused by inhalation of noxious particles, most commonly cigarette smoking. The consequent changes in airways, lung parenchyma and pulmonary vasculature lead to increased resistive, elastic and threshold loads and impaired capacity of the respiratory muscle pump. COPD
