Intermolecular Carbon–Carbon Naphthalene Coupling Involves a Radical Mechanism Driven by Cytochrome P450 in Alternaria alternata

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
1,8‐DHN is an important intermediate to form complex aromatic ring systems. Phenol‐coupling reactions are important for the dimerization of two molecules. Here, we show that a fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme catalyzes specific C─C bonds. ABSTRACT Dihydroxynaphthalene (DHN) derivatives are precursors of biologically important molecules, including melanin ...

Soft Interactions, Rather Than Crowder Size, Determine Deviations From Arrhenius‐Like Kinetics of Phosphofructokinase‐1

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Our study investigates macromolecular crowding effects in the Arrhenius‐like and non‐Arrhenius temperature regimes of the human platelet isoform of phosphofructokinase‐1 (PFKP). The results reveal how PFKP maintains temperature robustness of catalytic activity in differently crowded environments.

A Precision‐Delivered Singlet Oxygen Generator With an Inbuilt Safety Switch for Induction of Pancreatic Beta Cell Stress and Death

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
ROXendin668 is a peptidic GLP‐1 receptor agonist that generates toxic singlet oxygen upon irradiation with far‐red light. Pancreatic beta cells can be photo‐ablated in a spatiotemporally controlled manner. This approach has the potential to provide a safer alternative to streptozotocin or alloxan for creating model systems for type 1 diabetes research.

Self‐Assembled Pt(II) Complexes Boost Up Stem Cell Proliferation and Accelerate Metamorphosis in Living Organisms

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Pt1, an organometallic platinum‐based complex, act as a modulator of redox homeostasis in cnidarians, regulating cellular functions and life‐cycle dynamics. In Nematostella vectensis, it mitigates oxidative stress, strengthens detox systems and accelerates development.

Magnetic Resonance Reveals Radical Stability in Native Biofilms and Its Role in Bacterial Resistance

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The complex biofilm environment consists of planktonic bacterial cells and cells embedded in an extracellular matrix (ECM). Through an integrated magnetic resonance approach, we show that nitroxide radicals primarily interact with the polysaccharides and lipids in the ECM.

Carbohydrate‐Directed Labeling Probes for UV‐Independent Chemoproteomic Profiling of Carbohydrate–Protein Interactions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 44, 26 October 2026.
Modular carbohydrate‐directed labeling probes (CDLPs) convert weak carbohydrate–protein interactions into durable covalent tags in live cells without the need for multivalency or UV irradiation. Ligand binding triggers proximity‐enabled, glycan‐releasing acyl transfer to install a click handle for protein tagging and chemoproteomic profiling.
