Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

The crystal structures of iron and cobalt pyridine (py)–sulfates, [Fe(SO4)(py)4]n and [Co3(SO4)3(py)11]n

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2018
The solid-state structures of two metal–pyridine–sulfate compounds, namely catena-poly[[tetrakis(pyridine-κN)iron(II)]-μ-sulfato-κ2O:O′], [Fe(SO4)(C5H5N)4]n, (1), and catena-poly[[tetrakis(pyridine-κN)cobalt(II)]-μ-sulfato-κ2O:O′-[tetrakis(pyridine-κN ...

Phosphorus Immobilization in Poultry Litter and Litter-amended soils with Aluminum, Calcium and Iron amendments [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Arkansas produces approximately one billion broilers each year. Phosphorous (P) runoff from fields receiving poultry litter is believed to be one of the primary factors affecting water quality in Northwest Arkansas.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Possible contribution of heavy pollution to the decadal change of rainfall over eastern China during the summer monsoon season

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2013
A regional climate model (RegCM4.1) is used to conduct two sets of sensitivity experiments. There are 20-year runs in each set of experiments. The experiments in each set include the variation of anthropogenic SO _2 emissions during 1989–2008 but exclude

The composition of ambient and fresh biomass burning aerosols at a savannah site, South Africa

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2016
Atmospheric aerosols play a key role in climate change, and have adverse effects on human health. Given South Africa’s status as a rapidly-developing country with increasing urbanisation and industrial growth, information on the quality of ambient air is

Effect of sulfate aerosol on tropospheric NOx and ozone budgets: Model simulations and TOPSE evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The distributions of NOx and O3 are analyzed during TOPSE (Tropospheric Ozone Production about the Spring Equinox). In this study these data are compared with the calculations of a global chemical/transport model (Model for OZone And Related chemical ...

Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...
