SULFONAMIDE HEPATITIS

Journal of Internal Medicine, 1972
AbstractTwo cases of hepatitis induced by sulfonamides are described. The causative relationship was verified by the administration of a test dose. The administration caused in both cases a prompt appearance of clinical reaction followed by a rise of serum bilirubin and enzyme activities, which subsided within 10 days.

Sulfonamide hypersensitivity

Immunology and Allergy Clinics of North America, 2004
Sulfonamide antibiotics can result in a wide variety of hypersensitivity reactions. No validated diagnostic tests are available for sulfonamide reactions; therefore, clinicians must rely on the combination of a careful patient history, review of medical records, and a sound knowledge base regarding the common clinical manifestations of sulfonamide ...

Antiviral Sulfonamide Derivatives

Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2004
The sulfonamides constitute an important class of drugs, with several types of pharmacological agents possessing antibacterial, anti-carbonic anhydrase, diuretic, hypoglycemic, antithyroid and anticancer activity among others. A large number of structurally novel sulfonamide derivatives have ultimately been reported to show substantial antiviral ...

Structures of Silver Sulfonamides

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1978
The structures of silver sulfonamides were found to depend highly on the substituent at the amide nitrogen of the sulfonamide. Silver is coordinated to that nitrogen and the sulfonamide is in the amido form if no substituent is present or if the substituent is a phenyl, acetyl, or 2-pyrimidyl group.

The Sulfonamides and Antibiotics in Trachoma*

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1952
The following preparations were used and the results observed in a series of over 3,500 patients with trachoma at the Missouri Trachoma Hospital during 1941-1951: sulfanilamide, sulfapyridine, sulfathiazole, sulfathiazine, sulfacetamide ("albucid"), sodium sulfacetamide ("albucid" soluble), sulfamylon® (4-amino-2-methyl benzene sulfonamide ...

Flavone-3′-sulfonamide

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2000
In the title molecule, C15H11NO4S, the phenyl and benzene rings are quite planar, with maximum deviations from planarity of 0.009 (2) and 0.004 (1) A, respectively. The γ-pyrone ring deviates from planarity and makes a dihedral angle of 8.3 (3)° with the 2-phenyl substituent. The sulfonamide group is involved in N—H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
