Dipolar addition to cyclic vinyl sulfones leading to dual conformation tricycles

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
Dipolar addition of cyclic azomethine imines with cyclic vinyl sulfones gave rise to functionalized tricycles that exhibited fluxional behavior in solution at room temperature.

Proteasome inhibition by new dual warhead containing peptido vinyl sulfonyl fluorides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The success of inhibition of the proteasome by formation of covalent bonds is a major victory over the long held-view that this would lead to binding the wrong targets and undoubtedly lead to toxicity.

Substituent-level Tuning of Frontier Orbital Energy Levels in Phthalocyanine/C60 Donor-Acceptor Charge Transfer Pairs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
We have calculated several low-lying Charge Transfer (CT) excited-state energies for four non-covalently bound dyads composed of a sulfonated-ZnPc coupled to C60. Our results show that the di- and tri-sulfonated systems yield a CT state as the lowest-energy excited state in the system.

Removal of refractory organosulfur compounds via oxidation with hydrogen peroxide on amorphous Ti/SiO2 catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Efficient removal of benzothiophene (BT), dibenzothiophene (DBT) and 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (DMDBT) has been successfully achieved via oxidation with hydrogen peroxide in liquid phase using an amorphous silica-loaded titanium oxide catalyst.

Polyelectrolyte Bundles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Using extensive Molecular Dynamics simulations we study the behavior of polyelectrolytes with hydrophobic side chains, which are known to form cylindrical micelles in aqueous solution. We investigate the stability of such bundles with respect to hydrophobicity, the strength of the electrostatic interaction, and the bundle size.

Oxidative processes of desulfurization of liquid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Environmental concerns have introduced a need to remove sulfur-containing compounds from light oil. As oxidative desulfurization is conducted under very mild reaction conditions, much attention has recently been devoted to this process.

A Facile and Mild Synthesis of Trisubstituted Allylic Sulfones from Morita-Baylis-Hillman Carbonates

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
An efficient and catalyst-free synthesis of trisubstituted allylic sulfones through an allylic sulfonylation reaction of Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) carbonates with sodium sulfinates has been developed.

Association Free Energies of Metal Cations with Mesylate and Acetate in Brine Calculated via Molecular Dynamics Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Here we report results from fully-atomistic molecular dynamics simulations and present the calculated binding free energies of the associations between metal cations and anionic functional groups under brine condition. Specifically the ion pair formations of Na+ and Ca2+ metal cations with sulfonate and carboxylate functional groups were considered. In
