Design, Synthesis, Molecular Dynamics, and In Vitro Evaluation of Isatin‐Based Quinazoline Derivatives as Potential Antidiabetic Agents

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
A series of substituted indolo[2,1‐b]quinazoline‐6,12‐diones (SJ1‐SJ8) has been studied for their possible α‐amylase inhibition property as an antidiabetic lead compound. The most potent inhibitory activity among the tested derivatives was showed by SJ2 (IC50 = 18.49 ± 0.06 µM), similar to the reference drug acarbose (IC50 = 16.26 ± 0.02 µM).

Type 5 Diabetes Mellitus: Pathophysiology, Clinical Phenotype, and Nutritional Management

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 42, Issue 6, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Type 5 Diabetes Mellitus (T5DM) is an emerging diabetes phenotype linked to chronic undernutrition. It predominantly affects young, lean individuals in low‐ and middle‐income countries. After its formal recognition by the International Diabetes Federation in 2025, T5DM resurfaced as a clinically relevant insulin‐deficient phenotype.

Effects of Oral Semaglutide on Dietary Intake and Body Composition in Japanese People With Type 2 Diabetes: A Prospective Observational Study in Clinical Practice

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
This prospective observational study evaluated changes in dietary patterns and body composition after 3 months of oral semaglutide treatment in people with Type 2 diabetes. Oral semaglutide was associated with reduced energy intake, salt intake and body fat while preserving handgrip strength.

Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitors Associated Heart Failure Events in Adult Patients With Type‐2 Diabetes Mellitus Treated With Dipeptidyl Peptidase‐4 Inhibitors: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
DPP‐4 Inhibitors associated withheart failure events in patients with type‐2 diabetes. This study found statistically insignificant summary effect for all DPP‐4 inhibitors combined but found asignificant association of saxagliptin with heart failure events (RR = 1.24, 95% CI 1.05–1.47). Results are to be interpreted with caution.

Impact of Semaglutide, Liraglutide and Tirzepatide on Cardiometabolic Outcomes: A Comparative Narrative Review

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
The comparative pharmacology and cardiometabolic outcomes of semaglutide, liraglutide and tirzepatide, integrating evidence from major clinical trial programs and meta‐analyses. ABSTRACT Background Cardiometabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), obesity and cardiovascular disease (CVD) remain major global health challenges.
