A Solvent Free Route to the Synthesis of Diaryl Sulfoxides [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2005
The solvent free route for the synthesis of diaryl sulfoxides from arenes and thionyl chloride in the presence of Lewis acids such as aluminum chloride and ferric chloride on silica gel are described.

Spiral Galaxies as Enantiomers: Chirality, an Underlying Feature in Chemistry and Astrophysics

open access: yes, 2005
Spiral galaxies are axi-symmetric objects showing 2D-chirality when projected onto a plane. Features in common with tetrahedral molecules are pointed out, in particular the existence of a preferred chiral modality for genetic galaxies as in aminoacids ...

Sulfoxides: potent co-crystal formers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The design of co-crystals requires knowledge of robust supramol. synthons. The sulfoxide is a potent H bond acceptor and was used as a co-crystal former with a range of NH functional groups, via N-H···O=S H bonds.

Enhancing UV Stability and Charge Extraction in Organic Solar Cells with Phenyl‐Linked Aromatic Self‐Assembled Monolayer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The phenyl‐linked self‐assembled monolayer exhibits robust intrinsic stability and hole extraction capability compared to the alkyl‐linked counterparts, thus facilitating the device stability with T80 over 1000 h and efficiency of 19.7% in advancing organic solar cells.

Defective hierarchical porous copper-based metal-organic frameworks synthesised via facile acid etching strategy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Introducing hierarchical pore structure to microporous materials such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be beneficial for reactions where the rate of reaction is limited by low rates of diffusion or high pressure drop. This advantageous pore structure can be obtained by defect formation, mostly via post-synthetic acid etching, which has been ...

Profiles of S-alk(en)ylcysteine sulfoxides in various garlic genotypes

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2010
The contents of major S-alk(en)ylcysteine sulfoxides (namely alliin, methiin and isoalliin) were determined in a set of 58 various garlic genotypes (22 flowering plant morphotypes, 14 semi bolting plants and 22 scape absent morphotype plants ...

Oxygen Doping Enables Tailored Built‐In Electric Fields in FeOCl/g‐C3N4 Heterojunctions for Enhanced Peroxymonosulfate Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐doping modulated g‐C3N4 support enables a strong built‐in electric field (BIEF) in FeOCl‐OCN.This enhanced BIEF induces the rearrangement of Fe(II)/Fe(III) in FeOCl, which subtly improves intermediates adsorption and also reduces the energy barrier of *O production, thereby achieving efficient PMS activation with 1O2 and Fe(IV)= O as the primary

The Electrochemical Oxidation of Organic Selenides and Selenoxides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The electrochemical oxidation of alkyl and aryl selenides was investigated in acetonitrile. The oxidation of diphenyl selenide and di(4‐methylphenyl) selenide led primarily to the formation of their respective selenoxides, which were identified by ...
